Atascadero Expands Public Outreach Ahead of July 4th Fireworks Enforcement Effort
The City of Atascadero is ramping up public outreach ahead of the Fourth of July regarding its new Fireworks Social Host Accountability Ordinance.
According to Atascadero Police Chief Dan Suttles, the City has already begun training staff, coordinating between police and fire personnel, distributing public information, and launching awareness campaigns. Additional outreach efforts are planned throughout June, including increased social media messaging, electronic message boards, and coordination with local schools, businesses, and short-term rental operators.
One point the City continues to emphasize is that all fireworks are illegal within Atascadero city limits. Officials say the primary focus is education, voluntary compliance, fire prevention, and community safety as wildfire season approaches.
