Paso Robles Mayor Pro Tem Steve Gregory thanked the community for supporting the voter-approved Measure J-20 sales tax, which provided most of the funding for the center. U.S. Rep. Jimmy Panetta secured an additional $500,000 in federal community project funding for construction. Paso Robles Fire Chief Jonathan Stornetta presented a plaque to Panetta and the Paso Robles City Council to recognize their roles in building the center. Panetta and Gregory used portable “jaws of life” cutters to cut the ribbon.

Measure J-20 revenue provided most of the funding for the facility., The City of Paso Robles opened its new Public Safety Training Center on Saturday with a ribbon-cutting ceremony and residential fire response demonstration. The facility will support training, education, and collaboration among public safety professionals. Emergency responders and representatives from fire departments throughout San Luis Obispo County attended the event.

Panetta and state Assemblymember Dawn Addis thanked the city for supporting collaborative emergency response. They also referenced the Timber Fire near Big Sur as they discussed the need for regional training resources. Paso Robles fire personnel then demonstrated how responders will use the center by igniting a fire on the second floor of a training structure and deploying a fire engine and crew.
