Detectives responded to the scene and began an investigation. They identified the suspect as 66-year-old Jose Sevilla Ruiz of San Miguel, who had fled the location before deputies arrived. Ruiz was believed to be driving a gold Ford F-150 pickup truck. Detectives followed up on leads, interviewed witnesses, and worked to locate Ruiz. Based on the investigation, detectives learned the shooting occurred following a domestic disturbance and verbal argument between Ruiz and the victim.
