SAN LUIS OBISPO COUNTY, Calif. (KEYT), A San Luis Obispo County judge has sentenced Vanessa Rose Noblitt to state prison for vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated for killing a cyclist back in 2024. Around noon on July 23, 2024, the San Luis Obispo County District Attorney's office says Noblitt was driving southbound on South Higuera Street in San Luis Obispo when she drifted into the bike lane and struck Mr. Goldberg from the side.

Mr. Suits was biking alongside Goldberg in the bike lane when both men were knocked down by Noblitt's vehicle. Suits suffered a concussion and other injuries, however, 86-year-old Goldberg died from his injuries several days later.

In a victim impact statement read to the court at sentencing, Saul's wife, Carol Goldberg, said:. On October 13, 2026, Noblitt was sentenced to 9 years and 8 months in state prison, the maximum penalty allowed by law for the offenses and special allegations to which she pled guilty. The court also ordered Noblitt to pay restitution to the victims in an amount to be determined. A restitution status hearing is set for January 12, 2027.
