, The San Luis Obispo County Sheriff’s Office is investigating newly discovered evidence in connection with the 2008 disappearance of Patrick Jay Valente after detectives located human remains in a rural area of San Luis Obispo County. A forensic anthropologist examined the remains and identified them as Valente, who was 58 years old and a resident of unincorporated Arroyo Grande when family members reported him missing in July 2008, according to a press release this week. The circumstances surrounding Valente’s disappearance in 2008 were considered suspicious and were investigated by the Sheriff’s Office. Detectives with the Major Crimes Unit are investigating the newly discovered evidence in connection with the ongoing investigation into Valente’s disappearance. The Sheriff’s Office Search and Rescue team later assisted detectives and other personnel with recovery efforts.
